Kilgore, Texas, September 12, 2007 – Skeeter Team’s Brad Davis, of Jackson, Wisconsin, won the Optima Batteries/Berkley Pro-Am, presented by Minn Kota on Cass Lake in Minnesota last week, earning the angler a check for $86,000, and bragging rights among a highly competitive field of some of the nation’s top walleye anglers. The event is part of the Super Pro Series of the In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail (PWT).

Davis, fishing from his Skeeter ZX2050, won the three-day event by two pounds, weighing a total of 15 fish for a combined weight of 38.13 pounds. This was Davis’ first PWT victory, after several top ten finishes. Like many anglers, he precisely positioned his Skeeter on key breaks (23 to 30 feet), and dragged live chubs in areas where he knew walleyes traveled.

“I’ve managed five top five finishes, and ten top ten finishes, but was never able to close the deal until now,” says Davis. “I fished an area of the lake that I had fished three years ago, and was able to find some good 19” slot fish. These fish had not been pressured, so I was able to get a good jump on the competition,” Davis continued. “I spent most of my time trolling live bait from the bow, and the boat’s handling was impeccable, even in the poor weather conditions,” he says. Davis was unable to score enough points to make the Championship, but plans to take his Skeeter on some “fun” fishing trips this fall and winter, gearing up for next season’s Professional Walleye Trail.
