Skeeter Hosts Another Successful Owner's Tournament - Record Low Lake Levels Yield Plenty of Bass - 09-25-2007

KILGORE, Texas, September 25, 2007 – Record low lake levels at J. Strom Thurmond Lake at Clarks Hill, along the Georgia-South Carolina boarder, did not keep the more than 240 Skeeter boat owners from participating in this past weekend’s Skeeter Owner’s Tournament, as anglers from across the country walked away with more than $100,000 in cash and prizes – celebrating Skeeter’s 60th Anniversary in grand fashion.

Skeeter owner Kenneth Frazier, of Laurens, South Carolina, won the big bass event, weighing in a 7.96-pound bass on Sunday, winning the angler a new Skeeter SX200 bass boat powered by a Yamaha VZ200 outboard engine, valued at more than $37,000. Frazier, who has fished at Clarks Hill many times, stated that this was the biggest bass that he has caught on the lake. “I’ve always had more success at Clarks Hill when the water is down. The fish are much easier to find, as they congregate together for feeding,” says Frazier. The angler caught his winning bass in three-feet of water on a double-bladed buzz bait in Broad River, on the northern end of the lake.

In addition to giving away a Skeeter bass boat, the company also handed out more than $25,000 in cash prizes to hourly big bass winners, as well as to overall big bass winners.

“This was an excellent event, and we would like to thank all of our Skeeter owners who participated, as well our hosts, vendors and sponsors,” says Daren Cole, Marketing Manager for Skeeter Products, Inc. “We look forward to building upon the success of this tournament by returning to the Southeast next year,” says Cole. “The Skeeter brand name is becoming a top choice among anglers seeking a bass boat company that fulfills their needs on the water, but supports them off the water as well,” Cole continued.

The weekend-long event, televised by Bass Champs for The Outdoor Channel, was attuned more to a festival than a fishing tournament, featuring demo rides, live music, a low country boil dinner, sponsor exhibits, children’s play area and interactive displays. Additionally, the Great Skeeter Duck Hunt, a competition where participants find “Rubber Ducks” located throughout the lake, yielded thousands of dollars in for prizes for tournament anglers.

Jerry Uhrich, of Eutawville, South Carolina, won the Skeeter Bug Shoot Out, partnering with Skeeter Pro and fishing veteran Zell Rowland, weighing in two bass totaling 4.80 pounds. Uhrich won a five-night trip for two to the exclusive Palmas de Cortez resort located in the East Cape region of Baja California in Mexico, including, airfare, two days of charter fishing and $500 cash.

The company’s team of professional boat drivers performed more than 400 demo rides in Skeeter’s line-up of bass boats, including its i-Class and ZX Series. Doug Hedberg, of St. Clair, Michigan, won a Yamaha Grizzly 250 4x4 ATV for participating in a demo ride. Skeeter also handed out cash and prizes to winners of the Classic Division, Ladies Division, Junior Division and Longest Drive.

Skeeter will host its third Owner’s Tournament of the year on the Patoka Reservoir, an 8,800-acre largemouth bass fishery near Jasper, Indiana on October 14.
