Skeeter Introduces Redesigned ZX22Bay - Tunnel Option Gives Inshore Anglers Plenty of Advantages - 10-16-2007

The ZX22Bay has been redesigned to meet the criteria of serious inshore anglers – meeting the challenges that any coastline poses, from shallow marshes, oyster bars and muddy bays, to inlets and near shore oilrigs. The ZX22Bay is designed for performance, durability and comfort, and adds to the company’s existing Saltwater Series, including its ZX24Bay, ZX22V and ZX20Bay.

The ZX22Bay’s deck was redesigned to provide more space, maximum efficiency of storage compartments, and more comfortable seating. The engine is now set back eight-inches, making the rear deck spacious, and providing plenty of room for casting. Two flip passenger seats located port and starboard are separated by a 29-gallon rear/center baitwell with fill and recirculating pumps/timer. The baitwell’s dual role as a releasewell is perfect for tournament anglers. By moving the flip seats, passengers now have ample of legroom for added comfort.

Some of the subtle changes to the ZX22Bay include a boarding ladder, Roto molded rear storage compartments, non-skid gunnel top, and molded rain lips around deck storage compartments to keep gear dry. . Wider gunnels make getting on and off the boat easier, and is better for fighting fish while walking around the boat. The boat’s center console features Yamaha instrumentation, including horn, multifunction speedometer, fuel gauge and clock, tachometer with trim gauge and oil status and analog water pressure gauge. Tilt hydraulic steering, two cup holders and leaning post featuring a removable 94-quart cooler are added comforts.

The bow fishing deck features a rod storage locker capable of holding rods up to nine-feet in length. An anchor storage compartment, gear storage box and insulated fish box can also be found underneath the bow deck. A six-gauge trolling motor wiring system with three battery trays makes hitting the flats easy. And, for the ultimate in power and reliability, owners may select from an array of Yamaha outboard engines, including both two-stroke and four-stroke options.

Skeeter’s ZX22BAY has a host of options, including Yamaha Command Link, a removable leaning post with back rest, driver’s flip/flop seating (exchange), radio/electronics box, a wide range of electronics from Humminbird and Lowrance, power options from Minn Kota and MotorGuide, 13” fishing seat, stainless steel handrails and Power Pole with wireless remote.

The ZX22BAY measures in at 21’ 10” in length with a 98” beam. The draft measures 10’-12”” and the dry weight is 1,850 pounds. The U.S. Coast Guard rates the ZX22BAY at a maximum weight capacity of 1,851 lbs., a maximum persons capacity of 8 people or 1,096 lbs., and a maximum horsepower rating of 250 hp. The ZX22BAY has a 60-gallon fuel tank.

Skeeter also offers its ZX22Bay in a tunnel hull option for extreme shallow water conditions, which comes standard with a Power Pole and Bob’s 8-inch hydraulic jack plate. The ZX22Bay and ZX22BayT each come with a Skeeter aluminum tandem axle trailer with disc brakes, flush kit, radial tires, tie down and a spare tire with carrier. A swing-away trailer tongue is a new option.

The MSRP for the ZX22Bay powered by a Yamaha F225 is $51,909. The MSRP for the ZX22BayT (tunnel option) powered by a Yamaha F225 is $52,767.
