Skeeter’s team of professional anglers continued its winning ways this weekend, as Texas pro Sean Hoernke won the Wal-Mart FLW Tour’s National Guard Open on North Carolina’s Lake Norman.

Hoernke weighed-in a two-day total of 27 pounds even, giving him a 4-pound, 7-ounce margin of victory, and securing the angler a $150,000 cash prize. Hoernke has now won on all levels of FLW competition, including the BFL, Stren and FLW Series, pushing him to now set some new professional goals.

“This was a great victory, and I’m hoping I can be as competitive during the FLW Championship,” says Hoernke. Hoernke won the hard-fought tournament without a set agenda, fishing unknown waters, and keeping the trolling motor at full speed, sight fishing for what fish he could find.

“I fished this tournament aggressively, and did not spend much time in one spot if the fish were not biting,” says Hoernke. “The fish were higher in the beds than they were during practice, so I had to make some adjustments to my technique, shifting from using weighted baits to weightless wacky—rigged baits,” says Hoernke. During the two-day tournament, Hoernke weighed-in two consistent limits, including 13-15 and 13-11 bags.

Hoernke’s victory adds to Skeeter’s success this season, as six anglers are in the top of the BASS Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year Standings, including Todd Faircloth in second place. Skeeter’s Bobby Lane leads race for the BASS Advance Auto Parts Bassmaster Rookie of the Year, with Clark Reehm in third. Finally, Mark Davis currently leads the BASS Berkley Heavyweight standings.
