Skeeter Owners to Converge on Lake Fork - Company Invites Public to Celebrate 60th Anniversary - 06-11-2008

KILGORE, Texas, June 11, 2008 – Skeeter owners from around the country will converge on Lake Fork, Texas, June 19-22 for the company’s annual Owner’s Tournament, marking Skeeter’s 60 years of history as a leader in the fishing industry. The weekend offers a host of family-fun activities, open to the general public, while Skeeter owners will vie for more than $150,000 in cash and prizes, including its popular ZX200 bass boat powered by a Yamaha VZ200 engine, a $43,000 retail package.

As of June 10, more than 400 boats had pre-registered for the event, and Skeeter officials anticipate this being one of the company’s largest Owner’s Tournament since the first event was held in 1993. “We are planning a host of dockside activities for both kids and adults, including a kid’s fishing pond, plenty of vendors with the latest in tackle and gear, live entertainment, a “Hook the Duck” contest, concessions, sponsor exhibits, our Skeeter 60th Anniversary display, a benefit raffle and demo rides,” says Daren Cole, Skeeter’s Marketing Manager.

Several Team Skeeter professional anglers will be on-hand, conducting seminars and providing fishing tips and techniques. Team members include Kelly Jordon, Dean Rojas, Zell Rowland and 2008 Bassmaster Classic champion, Alton Jones, among others. The ArmyBassAnglers fishing team will also be on-hand.

“In the past, we have utilized this event to raise funds for several East Texas-based non-profit groups, and we are always amazed at the support we receive from our Skeeter owners. Additionally, we’ll have our ‘Boat Load of Toys’ promotion, and encourage everyone joining us for the event to bring a new toy to support this great cause,” says Cole.

Owner’s interested in pre-registering for the event may do so by visiting www.skeeterboats.com. Owners may also register on-site, Thursday, June 19 and Friday, June 20. Competition begins at 6 a.m. on June 21 in an hourly big bass format, with the first day’s winners competing in the Skeeter Bug ShootOut, paired with Skeeter’s professional anglers. The tournament continues at 6 a.m. on June 22, with an awards ceremony that afternoon.
