Skeeter's Bobby Lane, who lead the 2008 Advance Auto Parts Bassmaster Rookie of the Year standings the entire season, officially accepted the award this past weekend during the Bassmaster Elite Series final event of 2008 on New York's Lake Oneida.

Lane began fishing professionally in 2003, and signed up for three annual Bassmaster Southern Opens in 2007, qualifying for the 2008 Elite Series season, as well as the 2008 Bassmaster Classic on South Carolina’s Lake Hartwell. Lane took advantage of his Classic invitation, finishing in fourth-place behind Skeeter’s Alton Jones and Cliff Pace.

“Though I’ve been fishing professionally since 2003, I definitely felt like a rookie during this season’s Elite Series, as I had only fished four of the 11 lakes on the schedule,” says Lane. “Fishing in the Bassmaster Classic, and having a strong showing, was a dream come true. Throughout the season, I slowly developed a fan base, which is the most rewarding aspect of all – having people at each tournament pulling for you to win,” says Lane of his fans.
